Using Form as a Vehicle for Paint


Mona's energetic and broad brushwork combined with well defined patterns of light and shadow convey a peaceful atmosphere in her paintings, yet elicit an emotionally charged response. She has been influenced by the Hudson River School for the artists' pantheistic and transcendental philosophies, and looks to the Impressionists for their brushwork and use of color. On the emotional level she says that she admirers the Expressionists for their bold and honest response to nature.
